The heat-treatment of metals and alloys embraces many processes employing combinations of heating and cooling operations, applied to moulds and dies, tools and machine components so as to produce desired mechanical properties, with specific characteristics related to particular types of 'in-service' applications.
The service properties of metal components of machine parts and tools depend to a large extent on the quality of the heat treatments they receive. Progress in this field is determined by the general level of the material science and by success in applied research, by the use of new techniques and by the improvement of existing equipment, and also by the rapid and wide introduction of the achievements of the science and experience in the practical work of heat treatment departments in metal processing enterprises.
The International Federation for Heat Treatment and Surface Engineering (IFHTSE) and Egyptian Heat Treatment Society (EHTS) welcome all engaged in R&D and industrial application of heat treatment and surface engineering of materials to the 1st Mediterranean Conference in Heat Treatment & Surface Engineering, to be held under the title of: “Heat Treatment and Surface Engineering in the Manufacture of Metallic Engineering Components” in the city of Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt.
The conference aims to bring together delegates from industry, R&D and universities to discuss and exchange views in the latest developments in heat treatment and surface engineering technologies and processes, with emphasis on their applications in machine components and tools, and related manufacturing industries.
The conference will also aim to promote a multidisciplinary approach, involving all players in the field of heat treatment and surface engineering that is so essential in the exchange of experience, in technology transfer, and in industrial success.
